Vacation Town of Key West, Florida

Snorkeling tours, ghost tours, party boats, the Pirate Soul Museum, and shark excursions are just a few of the adventurous activities that the southernmost city in the continental United States has to offer. Not only does Key West, Florida hold adventure, but the town itself is remarkable. The laid back atmosphere and the Victorian style of the houses make for such a relaxing and unique spot.

When you embark upon a vacation, usually you want to partake in all of the adventurous activities the location has to offer. Luckily, the adventures are endless here. The Dolphin Shipwreck and Snorkel tour is an excursion that not only encounters wild dolphins in their natural habitat, but you also get to snorkel around a fascinating underwater shipwreck! Sunset Cruises are an absolute must when enjoying the south. The sunset is never something that goes unnoticed here. It is a celebration of the closing of the day and the start of an even better night. Offered are many different types of sunset cruises, from romantic dinner cruises to raucous fiesta cruises for those who want to get the party started right. Another adventure lies seventy miles off the shore at the islands of the Dry Tortugas. The Half Day Dry Tortugas Seaplane Excursion is an exciting sea plane flight out to the Dry Tortugas, which offers a beautiful sightseeing trip before you even get to the island. Taking the sea plane rather than a boat to the island offers more time to tour while on the island and even sightsee at Fort Jefferson, hike, or go snorkeling!

For those who enjoy seeing historical landmarks and touring museums during their vacation, Key West is also very rich in culture. The Old Town attractions have something for everyone. The Pirate Soul Museum travels back in time to when buccaneers roamed the Caribbean Sea. This museum is not only educational, but also entertaining with their jaunty tales of pirates. If you want to see beauty among fascinating creatures, the Butterfly Conservatory is a wonderland of butterflies fluttering all around you as you pass through. If you are fascinated by the Butterfly Conservatory, then you will also enjoy the Audubon House and Tropical Gardens. This Victorian mansion not only houses beautiful tropical gardens, but also is a display of a collection of wildlife art by the naturalist John James Audubon.

Lastly, everyone’s favorite and most appealing part of Key West is the nightlife. On any vacation, it is all about dining out, and just like the excursions that are never ending in this amazing place, the restaurants and bars are also endless. Duval Street is considered the premier section for the restaurants and bars, but there are entertaining spots everywhere around there! The most known spots for tourists are Sloppy Joe’s and Fat Tuesday. Sloppy Joe’s, considered the most famous bar in Key West, was originally named Russell’s. Ernest Hemingway, who was a regular at Russell’s, convinced the owner Joe Russell to change the name to Sloppy Joe’s because to him, Joe ran such a sloppy place! Fat Tuesday has a New Orleans and Mardi Gras theme with the most extensive frozen daiquiri selection in the town.

This vacation town offers so many amazing and intriguing activities and destinations. It is a laid back and beautiful location that many people travel to for a trip and end up never leaving! So take your pick – a vacationer or a local of this unforgettable spot!
